Overview
The BSS FM-704 Wall Mount 4-Zone Paging Station is a simple 4-button paging station which gives zone selection and Ready / Busy status indication, and uses CobraNet as the audio and control transport. BSS FM-704 Wall Mount 4-Zone Paging Station is designed for use within HARMAN IDX systems.
The BSS FM-704 Wall Mount 4-Zone Paging Station is designed to fit into a standard 3-gang US junction box, flush mounted to the wall. Screws are provided to fix the unit in place. Dimensions of the unit are shown below. The use of a metal wall box is recommended to ensure that the installation meets necessary EMC standards.
Network Connections
Both connectors on the rear of the FM-704 (Primary and Secondary) are CobraNet, PoE (Power Over Ethernet) enabled interfaces so that all connectivity (power, data, and audio) is provided by a single CAT 5 cable. The redundant Secondary port will become active upon detection of broken link in the Primary port. Therefore, connecting both ports provides cable fault tolerance.
Power
The FM-704 requires 48V DC to be supplied externally. This can be delivered with a Midspan PoE injector or a PoE-enabled network switch. When making use of both the Primary and Secondary ports, ensure that each port is connected to a PoE source.
Microphone Connection
The FM-704 ships with a PTT (Push-To-Talk) paging microphone. Connect this microphone to the RJ-45 connector on the front panel of the FM-704. For strain relief, use the supplied cable clamp to affix the microphone cable to the lower-left screw on the front panel of the FM-704.
